Great sound quality but, for me, not the best vocal performance by Elvis from his 1974 shows. He seems almost to be trying too hard. He presents some of the songs in a slightly different vocal way, which for me doesn\'t sound right.
Elvis talks a lot more than usual between songs, which is sometimes funny and other times a little irritating. Towards the end of the show he states that rumours in women\'s magazines about him are trash. He doesn\'t \"Booze\" or \"take any.....\".....Elvis doesn\'t actually say drugs but maybe he thought better of making that statement.
Due to the talking the show runs longer than usual which is why the final 5 cuts are found on Vol 3 of this set.
Elvis also showcases his backing singers more than usual on this show. JD and The Stamps get 2 solo numbers and Voice also get 1. All very admirable by Elvis but to me spoils the listening pleasure for the listener. If i put on an Elvis CD i want to listen to Elvis not his backing singers no matter how talented he feels they are.
He also reprises the end of several songs just to show how deep a voice JD has, not just at the end of \"I Got a Woman\" as is the norm. Now while i admit he does have a talent as a bass singer it does get slightly boring when it is done time and time again.
So, to sumarise:- Great soundboard sound, not the best vocal performance by Elvis and too much showcasing of backing singers.
There are other 1974 shows that are much better but still worth a listen.
