For Harrison fans its a great album. It's the album George wanted to put out, but maybe it is better that the album was refused because Teardrops and Blood of a clone are very good numbers wich would not have been put out if it was not refused.

The original version of a truly underrated LP from George. Great sound throughout and awesome bonus tracks from the Carl Perkins TV special. If you see this, grab it!

In my opinion George Harrison's solo material runs hot and cold. But reviewing this from the perspective of one seeking rare George Harrison music has come to the right place. This is a two-punch disc. First is the alternate version of "Somewhere in England", the way Mr. Harrison delivered it to Warner Brothers. Second is a performance with legend Carl Perkins, this is my favorite portion of the disc. The sound quality on this disc is great. Thank you to those at Pegboy. Give the people what they want-the rare recordings

Though an excellent collection, I have questions about the track order for the original line-up of "Somewhere In England." While in Liverpool in 1989, I visited a 'Beatles Shop' that had, among many other things for sale, a flat (test printing) of the front and rear covers of the original unreleased L.P. The rear cover listed the songs in two columns, and in the following order: Column One - Tears Of The World; Hong Kong Blues; Unconciousness Rules; Save The World; Baltimore Oriole; Life Itself. Column Two: Sat Singing; Lay His Head; Writings On The Wall; Flying Hour. I have the original scrap of paper upon which I noted the track order, and did NOT note "Side One" or "Side Two," so they were likely not marked as such or I would have noted it. It is possible that the tracks were listed in random order on the flat, but it is also an equal possibility that the tracks on the tape submitted to Warner Brothers (from which this disc comes) could have been submitted in random !order. Anyone who has information that can clear up this mystery will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Great reference album. For Harrison collectors it's a essencial item. It's the album George wanted to put out, but the Warner Records rejected in favour of the realise of the John Lennon'n new album Double Fantasy. The bonus material(in superb quality)is merely the soundtrack of the Carl Perkins and Friends TV Special. Thanks. Clįudio Teran...

Another absolutely essential boot for Harrison fans. Hearing the original Somewhere In England album is quite a treat. The best part is hearing the original mixes of the four tracks cut from the final album as they are different from the mixes on Pirate Songs. Also, the other songs that do appear on the final album are presented in slightly different mixes which are interesting. The quality is very good, with only a couple rough spots, most likely due to the condition of the original source. If you are a Harrison fan, this is a must have for your collection, not only because of its collectibility, but it is also just an enjoyable listen in itself. The reason I took off half a star is because of the inclusion of all the Carl Perkins stuff. This has absolutely no business being on this disc as it is in huge contrast to the other material. This stuff has been simply recorded off the Blue Suede Shoes video and is officially available on CD in much better quality. It seems that it was just used as filler and does not add much value. Still, having said that, this disc is still highly recommended for the original Somewhere In England album.
