As documented, the largest crowd gathered to see the Beatles, was in Adelaide, South Australia, in 1964. 300,000 fans lined the streets en route to the city from the airport in a reception more befitting a president than a pop group - John's comment at the end of the interview: "You got to be aware around you, you might get shot".

The Beatles
This is the groups first known recorded interview. It was included as a 'bonus' with Lewisohns 1986 book The Beatles Live!.
A very small portion was officially released on Anthology 1 (1995).

Recorded by Monty Lister at Port Sunlight in the Wirral, England.

It is a very interesting interview as it features Paul saying that John is "the leader of the group" and Ringo talking about how he has only been a member of the group for a few weeks.

The quality is not very good (as good as the previous day performance): there is a balance problem but this time with the voices.
Note: the date of this show has only been recently discovered. Before that, it was assumed that it was a 16 Jun 1964 show.

Festival Hall,Melbourne. 'The Beatles Sing For Shell' Concert is incomplete refer to 'Live in Melbourne 1964 and 1965', 'Pyramid' release .

If you are not a collector keep on listening to "Live at Hollywood Bowl". If you are a collector and you don´t mind the yery bad sound quality, you can buy it, the interview is quite cool.

Don't know why this concert has always been regarded as bad quality as to my ears it's pretty good with minimal crowd interferance. The recurring problem is the tape speed which I hope one day someone will rectify. The only complete live recording with Jimmy Nichol on drums so it's quite interesting...& he does a good job too!
The "Nuada" version has only the Adelaide portion with the press conference intact plus the cover has pictures from the famous welcome from the city.
