INCREDIBLE UNKNOWN MASTERPIECE. Carl's first self titled solo lp in '81 was only a springboard for this brilliant second solo album from '83 (right before rejoining THE BEACH BOYS again), you can tell that Carl had his heart into the recording of this lp. Not a single guest was to include any Beach Boy, heavy on "rock guitar" courtesy of Ex-Steely Dan/Doobie Bros. Jeff "Skunk" Baxter who also helped in production I believe.

Carl had just gone off his cocaine addiction and his marriage with Annie was still on the borderline, but Carl's youthful spunk and super strong voice was right up there.

Choice cuts are: "Givin' you up" which sounds like a leftover idea for THE BEACH BOYS - (L.A.) LIGHT ALBUM
and the RASPBERRIESesque power pop "What more can I say?".

I can't imagine how strong the following few Beach Boys lps could have been had Carl been able to take the reigns and full direction instead of Mike, Al, and Bruce shoving their 2 cents in!

RIP Carl.
