John was interviewed by Jean-Francois Vallee on for 'Il Etait Une Fois John Lennon' ('Once Upon A Time There Was John Lennon'). There was TV show producer Michel Lancelot's voice overdubbed on voice of John Lennon.

Maybe it was performed on the party for John's 31st birthday.
But could be that it's just stylezed performance and there was no John at all...

the last track with jimi hendrix is no fake a friend of mine has this cd and there you can hear that it is the same as on the jimi hendrix - radio one - daytripper

Fake is maybe more meant as in 'no JL involvement' on this Hendrix BBC broadcast.
I loved the appearance of these 10" Audifon releases, which were quite sought after when they appeared around 77/78: The unbelievable cool Astrid Kirchherr cover shot, the discs that came in different colors and even the labels.
The content was exciting until the Elton John show appeared on LP & EP in the early 80's if I remember correctly, but this is now strictly a vinyl boots collector's item.
The original release has an uninterrupted fair quality audience recording of the EJ gig, but later re-releases simply copied the commercial release.

Here is my review of all the songs individually:

"Whatever Gets You Through The Night", a live performance that is in extremely poor quality. The vocals are nearly inaudible. Great performance, terrible quality audience recording.

"Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds", ranges from poor to fair sound througout, the best of the three live tracks on here, though, it's got nothing to do with John Lennon, nothing special.

"I Saw Her Standing There", very high energy. Unusual to hear John Lennon singing the classic song with Paul on lead! Fun. Definitely worth a listen, though, the sound quality is poor.

"Slippin' And Slidin'", nothing special. Very forgettable, common, and, available elsewhere in better quality.

"Stand By Me", same evaluation as the previous, though, even less enjoyable.

"Oh My Love" is an outfake. It's a track the Canadian Band, The Wackers. Intentionally added on here in poor quality, as the original and far superior version of this Wackers' single sounds absoulutely nothing like John Lennon, or any other Beatle for that matter, since it's supposed to be the Beatles 1968 demo. It is not.

"Lady Marmalade" Is a very short track. Mostly conversation, the rest is just the chorus of the normal version, sung by John. Decent sound quality, not good. Not a good performance either. Forgettable.

"Working Class Hero" is also a fake, obviously. The intro's overdubbed, and a real John/Yoko conversation, but, the actual song is absoulutely a fake.

"Day Tripper" is a Jimi Hendrix performance. No John Lennon here. Terrible song. Incredibly forgettable, this one belongs in the bin.

NOTES ON PACKAGING: A very poor cover! Recycled paper, that scratches the record, and, gets worn very quickly, as it's not durable in the least.

Overall Rating: 1.5/5

This is a copy of a very old vinyl boot, that was released under the same name way back in the mid-70's.

The Madison Square Garden tracks with Elton John have now been officially released on Elton's CD set: Live-Here and There.

The expanded CD version of Elton's album contain these tracks in professionally recorded audio fidelity...very nice.

This was a historic performance in that it was Lennon's final public performance.

It was also the night he got back together for the final time in his short life with Yoko Ono, remaining with her until his untimely death in the autumn 1980.

The Daytripper track is in fact, the Jimi Hendrix Experience live on the BBC, Lennon was not present during this performance.

Daytripper has also been released officially on the Hendrix album BBC Broadcasts.

Rest of the tracks are various broadcasts.

Dates and recording locations of the noted tracks are quite correct.

Now mainly a collectors item for completists.

RIP: John...
