Brand new official Lennon material? Yes. Of course, not all the people devoted to Beatles (or solo) music has to know their bootlegs. In a restricted opinion, I have always collected them, so I was not so surprised to the tracks contained on "Acoustic" (mostly are in Lennon Tapes or other bootlegs), but as a fan ANY new official release is welcome.
First of all, letting all the bootleg aside, it's the first time that the John's "acoustic demo mania" is oficially released, and people must take that into account. John is still so fresh and his ideas are so present, as well as his music, that listening to the pre-studio tracks is sort of a privilege. Of course we must think that these tapes source was early generation (if not first), so that would give this record another crown.
Enjoy John Lennon being at ease with his acoustic guitar, playing to that record machine what he was planning to show the world. A phase that was never oficially shown (except Anthology, of course) in an album.

We very seldom get to hear this kind of material. The artist vision is still very much in focus here. The pure sound is "music to my hears" It is like being with the arist in his interworld. Who could not appreciate this. acoustic version super. Need more of this type.

How seem this album in context of the Lennon Collection? Certainly John never released it. Is more of the same. Lennon Acoustic is Yoko Ono in fight with bootleggers - 'The long battles to prove they're was a Saint.' Clįudio Teran....

I feel bad saying it but I was let down when listening to this. It seems unstructured as a compliation album. If all the tracks had the quality as Working Class Hero then I would love it, but they don't. We get a muddled live take of Imagine and lots of fade out tracks. John and his performances are wonderful but the package is questionable and directionless.

To help you out here, the versions that had never been officially released before:
* Well Well Well
* God
* My Mummy's Dead
* Cold Turkey
* Watching the Wheels
* Dear Yoko
* Real Love
These tracks have all appeared on bootlegs before, though Cold Turkey (demo 1) seems a tad longer here than on versions I've had before. From what I can hear so far, the other tracks have all appeared on the official Anthology set, though in newly-remixed form (i.e. the phasing on Working Class Hero). A nice compilation, but a tad redundant, considering the wealth of still-unavailable material that wasn't chosen. Pay less than 15 for this one, if you can. (And if you want to be able to *play* your CD, get the US versions, which don't have the copy-control.)

OLD HAT NOTHING NEW TO US HARD CORE COLLECTORS

I was a little disappointed that Yoko felt the need to produce some of the tracks. She could have left them unaltered (as on the Lost Lennon Tapes) collections and they would have been better, more authentic.

There are some great, alternate versions here from an unrestrained Lennon era, probably my favorite. It is rough at times, but the raw takes are still quite polished and most were probably close to the final takes, but I just love listening to these fresh versions over 30 after they were recorded. I have to admit though, Yoko's off key singing can be quite annoying. At least it's kept to a minimum.

The bottom of the barrel. This is a poinless release from Yoko. This collection of demos are not up to a standard worthy of release - this is for hardcore fans only (and we already own the stuff from the Anthology and the LLT series).

The title "Lennon Acoustic" will sound tempting for casual fans, and they'll probably expect unplugged favorites in studio quality. Instead they get a collection of work-in-progress demos recorded on a cheap cassette player.

This isn't fair for future Lennon fans. Maybe some of our kids will buy this in the future as their very first Lennon CD, expecting to hear some great John music. And then, understandably disappointed, they'll never buy any Lennon material again.

Yoko should stop releasing further Lennon material - there is nothing left in the archives worthy of release. I love Johns music as much as the rest of you, but i just don't think it would be fair that the masses should judge him by home demos and rehersal tapes - keep this for us diehard-fans only.

So boring I didn't even make a copy of it. Lifeless.
